Professionally Designed and Built Hip-to-Gable Loft Conversions

Also referred to as a hip roof conversion or attic gable extension, hip-to-gable loft conversions are most commonly found as part of semi-detached properties with a hipped roof. When building hip-to-gable conversions, the existing ridge line of the house is extended over the existing hipped roof to the outer wall, creating a gable.

A hip roof conversion or attic gable extension increases the walkable space. Building a hip-to-gable roof also allows for the construction of a full-width rear dormer, if required. As loft conversion specialists, we find forming a hip-to-gable with rear flat roof dormer to be a popular option amongst our customers in Bath, Bristol and the surrounding area. This option maximises habitable space whilst complying with local planning restrictions.

Our hip-to-gable loft conversion service includes the following features:

Our team of time-served loft conversion specialists work diligently to minimise disruption during the construction of your loft space. We provide detailed project management from start to finish and do everything we can to ensure 100% customer service satisfaction.

Our Hip-to-Gable Process

For our customers in Bath, Bristol and the surrounding areas, before we can start building any new hip-to-gable conversions, we must obtain the relevant consent from the local planning department and building control.

Once work can commence on site, a scaffold will be erected. Our team will arrive on site and the materials will be delivered. All work on your loft conversion is carried out externally via the scaffold until the staircase is installed (approximately week 5 of the build). This not only minimises disruption but reduces heat loss during the winter months and debris throughout the house.
Building control makes regular visits throughout the build to ensure the project is compliant with regulations and issue a certificate on completion of the build. Various factors influence the duration of a build, such as the size of the property and the customer's specifications.

A work schedule is issued at the beginning of the build, which gives a detailed account of the lifecycle of a hip-to-gable loft conversion. Upon completion of the project, SKD Loft Conversion Specialists Ltd will carry out final quality control checks, the scaffold is taken down and the property cleaned of any debris.
